Just south of the Merrimack River and the New Hampshire border, Andover is considered part of greater Boston, with a population of 33,418. It has a rich history. Founded in the 1600s, Andover had a role in the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, Civil War, and the Revolutionary War. Andover has two stops, Ballardvale and Andover along the Haverhill/Reading Line of the MBTA Commuter Rail, providing rail service from Haverhill to Boston’s North Station.
